It’s comforting to know that no one is an expert writer. It all depends on the inspiration, on the desire to work on an idea and the amount of passion one puts into it. We can always work at perfecting our craft, learning new techniques, trying out different tones, but finally it all comes down to starting from scratch for each bit of writing that you do. That I find wonderfully inspirational.
“No matter how long you’ve been at it, you always start from scratch.” — Jeffrey Eugenides
Just yesterday, someone contacted me to ask me to do a bit of writing which is very different from what I usually do. While I haven’t even met the client yet, my mind has started to churn out ideas. I’m excited about trying something new and starting from scratch.
This made me rethink how I approach my usual writing. I really need to get more excited about it and put a lot more creativity into it. If I approach every piece of writing as something new and start from scratch, I believe my writing will improve a lot.
Do you approach each piece of writing as if you were starting from scratch?
#WritingWednesdays is up every alternate Wednesday. We have a prompt and encourage you to respond to it. However, you’re welcome to add your links from your posts through the week.
Today’s prompt: Write about the latest book you’ve read or the one you are reading and why it inspires/ entertains you.
