Day 3 of the Write Tribe Festival of Words.
It is Friday.
Maybe some of you are heaving sighs of relief over the two-day break coming up.
Maybe some of you are wishing there was no break and are eager to write.
Maybe some of you have simply marked the dates in your calendar and are serenely planning your posts and scheduling them.
You know what?
All these situations are just fine.
For those waiting for the weekend, perhaps you’ll do something you want to write about.
For those who don’t think they need the break, well – write on, people!
And for those organized individuals, more power to you! You inspire everyone!
Whatever it is, here’s the thing.
There is inspiration in every moment, if you pause to look, become aware of your thoughts and process them.
Maybe watch the swirls of vapor rising from your morning cuppa – what does it make you think of? Your present moment and how happy you are to be sipping it? The day ahead, with something to look forward to? The memory of meeting a close friend? Or the first time you met someone who is now very important in your life?
Maybe you woke up smiling today from the memory of fragments from a dream or just happy thoughts? What are you going to do about them? Don’t let those thoughts vaporize – carry them forward and make them work for you.
Maybe you were waiting at the traffic lights, tuned out to the noise around you and mind far away, driving on autopilot. Why not tune in to what is around you – and notice the details? See the expression on that woman’s face as she perhaps waits at the bus stop? What might her story be?
Fast forward to when you get to work, or wherever you head to every morning. As you walk in, instead of wishing everyone as usual, how about looking into each person’s eyes, smiling and wishing them a great day? Maybe even spend a moment to listen to someone who’s got a problem? And empathize?
When you have lunch, appreciate each morsel and maybe even share your food with someone? Or treat someone to lunch? Anyone – your office helper or the lift man. Ask after their families. If they have little kids, how about buying them a gift?
Hey, you know where I am heading, right? Continue to think along these lines.
Today, pledge to be aware of every moment. Focus. Appreciate.
You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see how inspired you feel. And when you do that, your creativity will flow. You will have lots to think about, lots to share with the world.
